Blade made of Böhler N690 steel
The blade of the Viper Trail VT4066GG Stonewashed N690, Black SureTouch, fixed knife, Jens Ansø design is made of Böhler N690, a very corrosion-resistant steel from Austria. It is tough and easy to sharpen, even with relatively limited resources. Needless to say, it retains its sharp edge very well.
The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.
Handle made of SureTouch G10
The handle of the Viper Trail VT4066GG Stonewashed N690, Black SureTouch, fixed knife, Jens Ansø design is made of SureTouch G10. That is an impressive iteration of the celebrated G10 grip material. SureTouch consists of alternating layers of G10 and thin layers of rubber. This combination ensures an excellent grip in almost all circumstances. For instance, rubber and G10 react differently to moisture, providing excellent grip both when dry and wet. Moreover, rubber absorbs blows and vibrations, giving a different hand feel.
